Hammir Dev Chauhan was a king of the Chauhan dynasty who ruled in the region of Rajasthan in North India during the 14th century. He was the son of Rao Viram Dev and ascended to the throne of Ranthambore after his father's death.


Hammir Dev Chauhan is best known for his valiant defense of Ranthambore against the invading forces of Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi. In 1301 AD, Alauddin Khilji marched towards Ranthambore with a large army, but Hammir Dev Chauhan was able to repel his forces and hold the fortress for several years.


However, in 1306 AD, Alauddin Khilji returned with an even larger army and eventually succeeded in capturing Ranthambore after a long siege. Hammir Dev Chauhan was taken prisoner and taken to Delhi, where he was executed.


Despite his defeat, Hammir Dev Chauhan is remembered as a brave and valiant warrior who fought to protect his kingdom from foreign invaders. He is also remembered for his contributions to the development of Ranthambore as a center of art and culture during his reign.
